Dubli's 2005 China launch
- now purged from "official" Dubli "history"?
Have you ever heard or read about Dubli's big
2005 launch in
China?
Me neither, until recently that is, when I was browsing the web a bit here and there....
I wonder why we never heard of this in their 2008 and 2009 "huge sucess"-claiming promotion campaigns and conferences.... it's almost as if this (apparent) failure has been purged from the "official" Dubli "history"... maybe they don't want their new
Cash Cows ... errr...
Business Associates to know about it?
Here's what I found:

Dubli launches in China through its Chinese partner ChinaIBC

google translation
(http://translate.google.com/translate_t#)
of the danish page (with a tiny bit of help from me) is as follows:
"Collaborator/Partner China IBC
28th-29th August 2005 DubLi-Asia is opened.
Opening (of) the festival will be broacasted via 300 television stations to 25% of world population. Think of what it could mean for you and your business if you put your DubLi Shop into the shopping center, where all TV viewers click into DubLi, to see what it is is. Remember: A DubLi-Shop only costs € 49.00 for the first 12 months.
Eric Wang says:
E-commerce is increasing rapidly in Asia, where you want to buy products from Europe and America, and it may help Dubli when (the) portal is WorldWide."

of the danish page (with a tiny bit of help from me) is as follows:
"Then dawned the great DubLi-day. On 29th August 2005 DubLi-Asia was opened.
DubLi opens in China
DubLi has now officially opened up the Chinese market at a major conference in Beijing. It means that in the near future (it) will be easier to find suppliers of Chinese goods on DubLi.
The largest association of local Chinese TV stations, radio and Internet - Media Commerce ran from 29 - 31. - 31 August a big expo in Beijing. For Media Commerce, which is the absolute top within the very popular TV Shops in China, the aim was precisely to raise the Chinese world.
DubLi as honorary guest
Conference was attended by business people and delegations from around the world - particularly European, Asian and American. The 15-strong DubLi delegation was invited as guest of honor along with DubLis Chinese cooperation partner China IBC, and was followed closely by the Chinese press, already from the first day.
DubLis official opening
Founder Michael Hansen acted as one of the conference's keynote speakers, and opened on the morning of 31th August DubLi officially in China. DubLi participated as the sole representative of e-commerce through trade portal.
Among those present DubLis official opening was also the Chinese Interior, and representatives from the Chinese business elite.
Edge in the Chinese market
DubLi means for the conference and the official opening of a safe and strong lead portal trade within the Chinese market. Other large and famous trading portals that had applied for participation, would have had to manage with a disappointing rejection.
Several Chinese shops in DubLi
Henceforth, DubLi increasingly (will) become a platform for even Chinese Business to Business shops. This means that DubLi can now offer its users an enhanced and easy access to Chinese suppliers, contacts and products which under normal circumstances would be difficult to access.
Inspiration And new contacts
Beyond (the) Conference and Expo DubLi delegation visited a number of successful and emerging Chinese companies, and was invited to the meetings and business dinners with business representatives from around the world. This has led to many new relationships and contacts that opens up even more opportunities for DubLi in the future ..."

# NOTES:
——————————————
1 # On an archived page of Dubli.com, dated 12 Dec 2005
http://web.archive.org/web/20051212133440/http://www.dubli.com/about/contact
there is an Asian support/development centre adress listed:
"DubLi Asian Support and Development Centre
ChinaIBC ( Shanghai)
Mingshen Center Building, 26 Floor
No. 3131 Kaixuan Rd.
Shanghai, CHINA 20030"

2 # Dubli’s August-2005 launch in China has also been reported by Prestin International on a page that is dated “2006-05-02″.
Some photos are included.
http://www.prestin-international.com/index.jsp?ACTION=GONEWS&NEWS1=36
"Dubli.com: the New Internet Trading Portal
August 2005
Dubli.com has launched it's trading site, and initiated operations in China. Following the trend of many other successful E-Commerce businesses, Dubli.com has established a strong, and growing presence in China. During the Beijing Convention of E-Commerce in China, Dubli.com launched officially its site, presenting the various features this worldwide Internet trading portal has to offer. CEO Micheal Hanson, and several higher management officers were present at the Beijing Convention."

3 # Dubli’s Chinese partner “ChinaIBC” has no working webpage presently, and I don’t know if they’re still in business.
On a page archived 4 Feb 2005
http://web.archive.org/web/20050204130747/www.chinaibc.com/mission.shtml
it says:
"OUR MISSIONS ARE:
…To advise Chinese business on strategies& practices
for going globe.
…To consult foreign business on strategies & practices
for entering China market."
Through the web-archive for chinaibc.com no mention of the name “Dubli” has been found.
There is however this sole reference to a “European Trading Portal” on a webpage archived 26 Jun 2006 (ten months after Dubli’s launch in China with ChinaIBC as partner):
http://web.archive.org/web/20060622045411/http://chinaibc.com/china/index.php
"ChinaIBC hereby makes the claim that without ChinaIBC's permission,
no European trading portal is serving as the strategic partner.
We do not endorse any activities from the European trading portal website."

http://web.archive.org/web/20060829064157/http://www.dublinetwork.com/Default.aspx?ID=223
there is a link with title "Dubli opens in China"
The link is

However, neither this link nor the potentially archived link

5 # I do not know exactly when the last references to any China launch were made on the various Dubli websites, but the one mentioned in note 4 (DubliNetwork, dated 29 Aug 2006) seems to have been (one of) the latest.
However, references to a “marketing and support center” in “Asia” were still made on the dubli.com site until 21 Aug 2007:
http://web.archive.org/web/20070821030513/www.dublinetwork.com/DubLi.com-5.aspx
"DubLi was founded in 2003 by a young, dynamic, expansive and success-oriented company. The main office is located in USA with marketing and support centers in Europe and Asia. This means that the actual DubLi group internally is also a global business."
